Ideas for action relating to dharma in the world
June 2015
We are circulating to Coast and City Sangha readers the open letter sent by the Multifaith Association of SA (MFA) to spiritual leaders to call for action on climate change.
The letter is published on the website of the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC).
Dear Multifaith Supporters,
Climate Change is an issue that affects us all and the MFA recognises the need for people of all faiths to join together and take action; we also recognise that all faiths have a deep spiritual connection with the earth and environment we live in. Accordingly we are sending an open leader to spiritual leaders to call for action on climate change. The letter has already been published on the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC) website. Please read it and forward it to others in your spiritual community.
The letter is accompanied with this text release:
Dear Faith Leader,
We are a multifaith group from South Australia, representing a diverse and multicultural community. After deep discussion and over a year spent in study and reflection, our group has concluded that Humanity is at the crossroads.
Accordingly we have written this appeal for spiritual leadership from all faiths and from all parts of our country. There has never been a more significant and crucial time to demonstrate religious leadership in order to protect this precious and unique world.
We humbly ask you to read the attached letter in peace and with an open mind. It contains our contemplations and suggests actions that faith communities may take. It is also online here.
One simple action is to respond by email or by phone if you support the sentiments expressed and would like to follow up.
We send this letter to you with open hearts and minds and no purpose other than to serve humanity in order to live in peace, harmony and spiritual prosperity for all, as has always been the will of our great divine universal spirit and creator.
